24.46

案僧亮曰：次答云何說法者，增長如月初，初說無常、後則說常，似如欺人、不慈眾生，非父母義，明不正也。故以父母教嬰兒，為譬也。

Sengliang comments: Next is the answer to: 'How is the expounder of Dharma like the waxing crescent moon at the start of the month?' First he spoke of impermanence, and later he spoke of permanence; this resembles deceiving people and lacking compassion for sentient beings, not having the meaning of a parent and being overtly incorrect. Therefore, the simile of parents instructing an infant is used.
