30.4

案僧亮曰：生為五陰之本，愛是眾結之本，引先偈為證。羅漢所以無憂無畏者，以愛盡故也。所謂命終者，說其重者耳，此中說一切苦皆由愛生也。

Sengliang comments: Birth is the root of the five aggregates, and craving is the root of all fetters; previous verses are cited as proof. That the arhat is free from sorrow and fear is because craving has been exhausted. As for 'namely the end of life', this merely speaks of the gravest [instance]; herein it is stated that all suffering arises from craving.
