案智秀曰：雖復業及煩惱為辨果之因，然愛為愛生之生也。寶亮曰：第二會通難也。明雖復說有招陰之因不同，然非愛不辨，以三譬顯之也。

Zhixiu comments: Although karma and defilements are the causes that distinguish the fruit, craving is the birth that causes birth. Baoliang comments: The second point reconciles the objection. It clarifies that, although there are different explanations of the causes that attract the aggregates, none can be distinguished without craving; he illustrates this by means of three similes.
