案僧宗曰：除脩多羅及諸戒律者，謂除重頌脩多羅及重頌戒律也。寶亮曰：此除十一部云直說偈，謂不頌長行，亦以頌他為異也。

Sengzong states: “Excluding sūtras and the monastic rules” means excluding the reiterative verses of sūtras and the reiterative verses of the monastic rules. Baoliang states: Excluding the other eleven divisions, these are called “unconnected verses,” meaning they do not versify prose; they are also distinguished by versifying other [teachings].
