37.12

案僧亮曰：五事證慈。此第一明能令境雖不實而物得實益。如由金得樂，土即為金。若無金生樂，金即為土無異。小大相容，當事皆實，而得其用也。

Sengliang states: Five matters prove loving-kindness. This first one clarifies that although the objective realm is not real, things obtain real benefit. Just as through gold one obtains joy, earth becomes gold. If there were no gold to produce joy, gold would be no different from earth. Small and large accommodate each other; in terms of the actual matter, all are real, and their function is obtained.
