38.8

案僧亮曰：第二譬明見惡則憂也。僧宗曰：此下四譬是明病苦。苦有輕重，義推可有慈悲，𨷂無捨也。

Sengliang comments: The second simile clarifies that seeing evil brings sorrow. Sengzong says: The four similes below clarify the suffering of illness. Suffering has degrees of lightness and heaviness; by rational deduction, benevolence and compassion may be present, but equanimity is lacking.
