4.45

案僧亮曰：向來所請，非唯供妙、人亦豪賢，而不蒙受。今許純陀，旨必有在，故集法者以此二句仰稱至德也。

Sengliang says: In all the entreaties made previously, not only were the offerings exquisite, the people were also prominent and worthy, yet their offerings were not accepted. Now he grants Cunda's [request], so the underlying purport must have a purpose; therefore, the compiler of the Dharma uses these two phrases to look up and praise his utmost virtue.
