4.59

案僧宗曰：此第二就人作難也。經有兩本，亦云猶是眾生，蓋捉終而望始也。亦云直是，蓋言但是行地人耳。

Sengzong comments: This second objection is framed in terms of the person. There are two editions of the sūtra: one says 'was still a sentient being', which takes the end and looks back to the beginning; another says 'was merely', meaning he was merely a person on the stage of practice.
