40.12

案僧亮曰：知有佛性能得常果而發心者，雖逕生死不失此念，經之能也。僧宗曰：第三翻，明道雖不無，要須戒定慧。

Sengliang states: For one who gives rise to the aspiration [for awakening] upon knowing that the buddhadhātu exists and can attain the permanent fruit, even though passing through saṃsāra, they will not lose this mindfulness; this is the power of the sūtra. Sengzong states: The third turn clarifies that although the path is not non-existent, it indispensably requires precepts, concentration, and wisdom.
