Sengliang states: Ajita Keśakambala—his personal name is Ajita, and *kambala* means hair-blanket clothing. He wore coarse clothing and practiced asceticism. That man gave rise to the view holding that the causes of suffering and pleasure also lie in the past. If one undergoes suffering experiences in the present, one will naturally attain liberation. For this reason, he underwent all kinds of suffering, jumping into deep pools, throwing himself into fire, scorching his body with five fires, and so forth.
Sengzong says: This person holds to the view of annihilationism.
