43.18

案僧亮曰：犯罪既重，唯應聽法，非財施所能滅也。僧宗曰：第六，格量去留功德多少也。寶亮曰：第八，明佛功德智慧因重，能滅人罪也。智秀曰：第六，明佛能加益人心，所以見佛必有福利也。

Sengliang notes: Since the offense committed is heavy, he must solely listen to the Dharma; it is not something that material giving can eliminate. Sengzong says: The sixth [section] weighs the quantity of merit between going and staying. Baoliang says: The eighth [section] clarifies that because the causes of the Buddha's merit and wisdom are weighty, he can eliminate people's offenses. Zhixiu says: The sixth [section] clarifies that the Buddha can augment benefits for people's minds; therefore, seeing the Buddha will certainly bring blessed benefit.
