43.22

案僧亮曰：證耆婆之言。王罪既重，唯佛能除，故說佛欲涅槃，勸速往也。僧宗曰：第三別也。前外道勸覓邪見師，次耆婆勸也，今其父自勸令隨耆婆語也。寶亮曰：闍世向疑罪重，恥至佛所。其父恐隨耶師，今故勸也。智秀曰：此下第三，其父以神通之力，勸之令詣佛也。

Sengliang notes: This confirms Jīvaka's words. Since the king's offenses are heavy and only the Buddha can eliminate them, it states that the Buddha wishes to enter nirvāṇa, urging him to go quickly. Sengzong says: This is the third distinct [part]. Previously, the non-Buddhists urged him to seek teachers of wrong view; next, Jīvaka urged him; now his father himself urges him to follow Jīvaka's words. Baoliang says: Ajātaśatru previously suspected his offenses were heavy and was ashamed to go to the Buddha's place. His father feared he would follow the false teachers, so now he urges him. Zhixiu says: From here down is the third [part], where his father, by the power of supernormal faculties, urges him to go to the Buddha.
