46.100

案僧亮曰：自既未悟，因請法之次，為眾重請也。僧宗曰：無畏更申德王之問，以請答也。寶亮曰：所以請佛答德王前至不至等問者，即是遣無畏後問也，義現於下也。

Sengliang notes: Since he himself had not yet awakened, following the opportunity of requesting the Dharma, he requested again on behalf of the assembly. Sengzong says: Fearless further restated the question of the Noble Virtue King to request an answer. Baoliang says: The reason why he asked the Buddha to answer the Noble Virtue King's previous question concerning reaching and not reaching is precisely to dispel Fearless's later question; the meaning is revealed below.
