46.18

案僧亮曰：彼來諸人或有不及，是以致誡也。恐時來會者生高下之心，是以寄言大士，乃密誡餘人也。寶亮曰：能如是解，亦即是聞不聞也。

Sengliang notes: Among the various people who came from there, some might not measure up, which is why he gave this admonition. Fearing that those assembled at that time might generate minds of superiority or inferiority, he lodged his words with the Great Being, thereby secretly admonishing the others. Baoliang says: Being able to understand in this way is itself hearing what was not heard.
