案道生曰：答第五句也。僧亮曰：第五句也。生是已有，已有更生，亦不可定說也。僧宗曰：次答第五難。不可說生，已生之法則有重生之過也。寶亮曰：亦無一定生之性，故不可說也。

Daosheng says: This answers the fifth proposition. Sengliang says: This is the fifth proposition. Birth already exists; that what already exists is born again likewise cannot be stated definitively. Sengzong says: Next he answers the fifth objection. One cannot speak of birth, for if an already born dharma [were born], there would be the fault of recurring birth. Baoliang says: There is also no single, fixed nature of birth, hence it cannot be stated.
