案僧亮曰：有得即有作，有作即是生也。僧宗曰：若必有不生可說，則永無生也。寶亮曰：有為則生，云何定說耶？
Sengliang says: If there is attainment, then there is activity; if there is activity, that is precisely birth. Sengzong says: If there were definitively a non-birth that could be stated, then there would eternally be no birth. Baoliang says: If it is conditioned, then it is born; how could it be stated definitively?
