46.78

案僧亮曰：為生作因者，無明至有，是十法為生作因，是生他不自生之義也。僧宗曰：世諦道中為生作因也。寶亮曰：若前十因謝，次生法起，即名作生，故得說為生。

Sengliang says: 'Serving as a cause for birth' means that from ignorance up to existence, these ten dharmas serve as causes for birth; this is the meaning of giving birth to another rather than giving birth to oneself. Sengzong says: Within the path of conventional truth, they serve as causes for birth. Baoliang says: When the preceding ten causes pass away and the next dharma of birth arises, it is immediately designated as birth; therefore, it can be stated as birth.
