Sengliang comments: "All reach this place" refers to the place of manifesting conformity with arising and ceasing. "All are like illusory appearances" causes him to contemplate emptiness, in order to stop the disturbance of sorrowful longing. "Through the power of expedient means": if phenomena were not empty and engaged in existence, it could not be called expedient means, and the Buddha's mind would not be unattached; because the Buddha's mind is unattached, it proves that all phenomena are empty. "Such is the nature of all buddhas" proves that non-attachment is the fruit of buddhahood. "I now accept your food" proves expedient means. Receiving it without eating is indeed the benefit of expedient means. Sengzong comments: From here to the end of the chapter is the tenth section, accepting understanding.
