5.22

案僧宗曰：以下況上也。如非想之壽尚八萬劫，況如來耶？慧朗別述曰：第二法說也，謂若同諸行，便是昔延而今促。何者？佛昔從天而降，豈得暫在人間便失天壽耶？

Sengzong states: This uses the inferior to compare with the superior. If the lifespan in the sphere of neither-perception-nor-non-perception is eighty thousand kalpas, how much more so that of the Tathāgata?
Huilang's distinct commentary states: This is the second Dharma exposition, meaning that if he were identical to conditioned phenomena, he would have been prolonged in the past and shortened now. Why? The Buddha previously descended from the heavens; how could he, upon briefly being in the human realm, lose his heavenly lifespan?
