5.28

案僧亮曰：王譬前佛，力士譬今佛也。伎能，譬十方無畏。佛降四魔，豈是行耶？僧宗曰：第四譬也。如來道超魔境，豈是死法耶？慧朗別述曰：第三譬說也。力士以種種伎能，所以當千佛；以萬行滿故，為三界尊。

Sengliang states: The king is an analogy for the past Buddha, and the strongman is an analogy for the present Buddha. The skills and abilities are an analogy for fearlessness in the ten directions. The Buddha conquers the four māras; how could he be a conditioned phenomenon?
Sengzong states: This is the fourth parable. The Buddha's path surpasses the realm of Māra; how could it be a dharma of death?
Huilang's distinct commentary states: This is the third parabolic exposition. Because the strongman possesses various skills and abilities, he can match a thousand men. Because the Buddha has perfected the myriad practices, he is revered in the three realms.
