Sengliang comments: This proves that conditioned phenomena cannot be requested [to remain]. Sengzong says: In these verses one could also randomly explain the various faults of impermanence, suffering, and so forth. Now, following the conceptual connections: The first three and a half stanzas are the gate of impermanence. The next stanza on the wheel of all sufferings is the gate of suffering. Next, 'the paths of existence' refers to the twenty-five states of existence; this half-stanza is the gate of emptiness. The next two and a half stanzas on destructible phenomena are the gate of non-self. Already possessing faults such as these, it says 'like a silkworm in a cocoon, without autonomy'. The stanza and a half on 'this body is an accumulation of suffering' is the gate of impurity.
