5.90

案僧亮曰：檀是法身種子，時物是檀種子也。多少者，上已說物，未明心地。今次說施有八種，如論文所釋。今明佛僧定清淨心，多是持戒人，但物多少不定耳。

Sengliang comments: Giving is the seed of the dharmakāya; the timely provision of goods is the seed of giving. Regarding "scant or abundant": above, the items were already discussed, but the mental disposition had not yet been clarified. Next, it is stated that there are eight kinds of giving, as explained in the treatise text. Here it clarifies that the minds of the Buddha and the Saṅgha are definitively pure, and they are mostly people who uphold the precepts; it is merely that the quantity of items is not fixed.
