案法瑤曰：文殊既催，恐物謂丈六全同凡人，故純陀復明但示同耳，豈實須哉？僧宗曰：純陀顯法身不食，乃引昔況今也。

Fayao comments: Once Mañjuśrī prompted him, fearing that people would think the sixteen-foot body is entirely identical to ordinary mortals, Cunda therefore further clarifies that it is merely a manifestation of conformity: how could [the Buddha] truly need it? Sengzong comments: Cunda reveals that the dharmakāya does not eat, and thus adduces the past to illustrate the present.
