52.30

案僧宗曰：第二難也。譬如人見畫女者，此防伏釋也。他人通言：遇緣起貪，貪由於境，何必在心？若作此通者，今復以譬遮之也。如畫女生貪之時，此畫豈是貪耶？當知在心也。

Sengzong states: This is the second objection. 'Just as when a person sees a painted woman' guards against and refutes the explanation. Others commonly explain: 'Encountering conditions, craving arises; craving stems from the object, so why must it be in the mind?' If one provides this explanation, now it is refuted again with an analogy. When craving arises toward a painted woman, how could this painting be craving? One should know it is in the mind.
