Sengliang states: Regarding 'the subtle is permanent and the coarse is impermanent': when fine dust particles unite they form conditions, and when they disperse they return to the original substance. The particles are permanent while the conditions are impermanent, yet the particles themselves have no conditions. 'Unable to know the causes and conditions of the mind': clinging to the existence or non-existence of causes and fruits, they fail to understand the causes and conditions of the mind. Baoliang says: He uses six similes to broadly rebuke the schemes of the heterodox paths.
