53.14

案僧亮曰：第二難也。僧宗曰：第二難言不能發心，復不然也。若言有性，必當成佛。寶亮曰：第二難言，第一人若聞法不聞法皆不能發。是亦不然。此人有佛性，佛性是善，自能向佛。佛何故言都不能發心耶？

Sengliang comments: This is the second objection. Sengzong says: The second objection says that their inability to generate the resolve is also incorrect; if it is said that they possess the nature, they will inevitably attain Buddhahood. Baoliang says: The second objection states: If the first person, whether hearing the Dharma or not hearing the Dharma, is entirely incapable of generating the resolve, this is also not correct. This person possesses the buddhadhātu, and the buddhadhātu is good and can of itself lead toward Buddhahood. Why did the Buddha say that they are entirely incapable of generating the resolve?"
