53.22

案僧亮曰：第六難也。僧宗曰：第五執因中已有佛性，故得成佛也。寶亮曰：第五難言，說因果性非有非無，亦復不然。若因中無果，云何能生佛菩提樹？正以有故能生也。

Sengliang comments: This is the sixth objection. Sengzong says: The fifth objection grasps that the buddhadhātu already exists within the cause, and therefore one can attain Buddhahood. Baoliang says: The fifth objection states that saying the nature of cause and effect is neither existent nor non-existent is also incorrect. If there is no fruit within the cause, how can it generate the Buddha's bodhi-tree? Precisely because it exists, it can generate it."
