Sengliang states: He raises two matters: first, compassion; second, understanding emptiness. By means of these two matters, he does not see their difficulty, and therefore can perform difficult deeds. Baoliang states: Next, from 'being able to do what is difficult to do' onward, he opens it into three matters to praise the person who accomplishes the five dharmas above. Precisely relying on the understanding above, he awakens to the falsity and unreality of the myriad dharmas. Whatever he undertakes, he does not distinguish between self and other, having no further discrimination. If the slightest thing were retained, it would contravene principle. Why is this so? Precisely because of gathering the power of the wisdom of emptiness, throughout the day he acts for the sake of beings, yet ultimately does nothing.
