54.101

案道生曰：不偏見者，佛性體也。僧亮曰：釋佛智也。先辨偏見者非，佛以非是顯是也。僧宗曰：理而為論，豈有不識耶？就教而言，但一向唯作空解，解偏故不名中道也。

Daosheng comments: That which does not see one-sidedly is the essence of the buddhadhātu. Sengliang comments: This explains the Buddha's wisdom. First distinguishing that one-sided seeing is wrong, the Buddha uses what is not correct to reveal what is correct. Sengzong comments: Speaking in terms of principle, how could one not recognise it? But speaking in terms of teaching, they simply produce exclusively an understanding of emptiness; because their understanding is one-sided, it is not termed the Middle Way.
