案道生曰：成佛得大涅槃，是佛性也。今亦分為二：成佛從理而至是果也。既成得大涅槃，義在於後，是謂果之果也。僧亮曰：涅槃是菩提之果，望觀智而言是果果義也。

Daosheng comments: Achieving Buddhahood and obtaining mahānirvāṇa is buddhadhātu. Now it is also divided into two: achieving Buddhahood comes from following the principle, which is the effect. Having achieved it, obtaining mahānirvāṇa lies subsequent in meaning; this is called the effect of the effect. Sengliang comments: Nirvāṇa is the effect of bodhi; viewed with respect to contemplative wisdom, it is the meaning of the effect of effects.
