54.7

案僧亮曰：縱佛不命問，次已至慈旨爰降，即聞命矣。寶亮曰：眾時得悟，宜在於師子吼，故所以應機而出。

Sengliang comments: Even if the Buddha had not commanded them to ask, the turn had already arrived and the compassionate intention descended; thus he complied with the command. Baoliang says: For the assembly to attain awakening at this time, it was suitable for it to depend on Lion's Roar; therefore, he emerged in response to the occasion.
