案僧亮曰：聲聞至九地，有重到未盡，不能少見佛性，不得稱慧。上說凡夫，此說聖人。

Sengliang comments: From śrāvakas up to the ninth stage, because the subtle defilements have not yet been exhausted, they cannot see the buddhadhātu even slightly, and thus cannot be termed 'wisdom'. The above spoke of ordinary beings; this speaks of noble persons.
