55.102

案僧亮曰：本無今有，是生也。本有今見，是了也。如無常見常是生，無常見無常是了也。僧宗曰：此取登住至三住也。比八正義強，故名生也。所以得知三住者，以住信忍地，今言信心六度也。寶亮曰：大乘行近，故名生也。

Sengliang comments: What was originally absent now coming to be is 'generation.' What was originally present now being seen is 'revealing.' For example, regarding the impermanent as permanent is generative; regarding the impermanent as impermanent is revealing. Sengzong comments: This refers to entering the stages up to the third stage. Compared to the Eightfold Noble Path, its efficacy is stronger, hence it is called 'generative.' How is it known to be the third stage? Because one abides in the stage of patient acceptance through faith (adhimukti-kṣānti-bhūmi); now it says 'the mind of faith [and] the six pāramitās.' Baoliang comments: The practice of the Great Vehicle is close, hence it is called 'generative.'
