案僧亮曰：數是萬法之一，自數數他，了因亦爾也。寶亮曰：當我分復滿一人數，故知有二用。舉此以救義也。

Sengliang comments: Counting is one among the myriad phenomena; one counts oneself and counts others. The illuminating cause is also like this. Baoliang comments: When it counts my portion, it fulfills the count of one person; therefore we know it has two functions. He adduces this to rescue his doctrine.
