57.34

案僧亮曰：有或者，則處處受生，故名眾生。或盡不生，不名眾生，名入涅槃。寶亮曰：燈譬果縛：油譬子縛也。

Sengliang comments: When there is delusion, one receives birth everywhere, hence called a sentient being. When delusion is exhausted and one does not take birth, one is not called a sentient being, but is said to enter nirvāṇa. Baoliang says: The lamp illustrates the bondage of effect; the oil illustrates the bondage of cause.
