案僧亮曰：欲明譬有多種，此少分譬也。此下廣辨逆與不逆諸譬也。寶亮曰：引八喻，明譬法不全取。前所喻者，蓋少分耳。

Sengliang comments: Intending to explain that analogies are of many kinds, this is a partial analogy. Below, he broadly differentiates direct, inverse, and other analogies. Baoliang says: He adduces the eight analogies to make clear that an analogical method is not applied in its entirety. What was illustrated previously was merely a partial aspect.
