案僧亮曰：答第二關難也。寶亮曰：次遣第二意，明心是知解之性，雖改代不常，要相續不斷，理數目增進也。

Sengliang remarks: "This answers the objection of the second prong." Baoliang says: "Next, he dispatches the second sense, clarifying that the mind has the nature of knowing and understanding. Although its successive replacement is not permanent, it must be continuous without interruption; thus in the natural course of things its progress increases."
