6.53

案僧亮曰：世醫慈淺，尚不捨病人，況出世良醫而不救我等？法瑤曰：上譬明未得解脫，此譬明未得般若也。僧宗曰：聲聞雖斷麁結而細者猶在，佛為良呪師，前譬明果患，此譬明因患也。

Sengliang states: An ordinary physician’s compassion is shallow, yet he still does not abandon the sick; how much less should the supreme physician transcending the world fail to save us? Fayao states: The preceding analogy clarified that they had not yet attained vimokṣa; this analogy clarifies that they have not yet attained prajñā. Sengzong states: Although the śrāvakas have severed coarse fetters, the subtle ones still remain. The Buddha is a skilled master of incantations; the previous analogy clarified afflictions as effects, while this analogy clarifies afflictions as causes.
