60.12

案僧亮曰：第四門，明伴非伴門也。寶亮曰：第四門，辨八正道中為一道能破？共故能破？若一能破，則不須具修於八；若一不能，八亦不能，乃舉盲者為譬，以曉之也。

Sengliang comments: The fourth approach clarifies accompaniment and non-accompaniment. Baoliang comments: The fourth approach discerns whether, among the eightfold noble path, a single path-factor can destroy, or whether they can destroy because of functioning together. If one can destroy, then there is no need to cultivate all eight; if one cannot, then eight also cannot. He then raises the metaphor of the blind to illuminate this.
