61.100

案僧亮曰：惑謂因能作果；今說因有故果出，因不作異也。以薪不作火，故無有作者。以薪無則火滅，故無有壞者也。僧宗曰：重答第五問，仍釋異法合故異法出生，豈關以佛性吸菩提耶？

Sengliang comments: "Delusion supposes that the cause can produce the fruit; now it is explained that because the cause exists, the fruit emerges; the cause does not produce anything different. Because firewood does not create fire, there is no creator. Because when firewood is absent fire is extinguished, there is no destroyer." Sengzong says: "This answers the fifth question again, further explaining that because different phenomena combine, different phenomena are born; how does this relate to buddhadhātu attracting bodhi?"
