案僧亮曰：第二難也。性是定因，因力則強，強故不須修道相助也。寶亮曰：下去凡五翻。上來至此，第一翻。師子吼難：若眾生有正因佛性，何不率爾而得涅槃，而方修虛假之緣因耶？

Sengliang comments: "This is the second objection. The nature is a definite cause, and the power of a cause is strong; because it is strong, there is no need for the assistance of cultivating the path." Baoliang comments: "Below there are altogether five turns. From above up to this point is the first turn. Siṃhanāda objects: If sentient beings possess the direct-cause buddhadhātu, why do they not immediately attain nirvāṇa instead of only then cultivating fictitious and provisional contributory causes?"
