61.60

案僧亮曰：此下有六事，證不修道，以成第二難。此第一事，舉經也。寶亮曰：第二翻。若眾生有正因，正因之力應自然成佛，何用修道？下舉五事以證成此難，明不假道力。

Sengliang comments: "From here down there are six matters proving that one does not cultivate the path, in order to establish the second objection. This first matter cites the sūtra." Baoliang comments: "This is the second turn. If sentient beings possess the direct cause, the power of the direct cause should naturally accomplish Buddhahood; what use is cultivating the path? Below, five matters are adduced to substantiate this objection, clarifying that one does not depend on the power of the path."
