案僧亮曰：說退因也。退因有四：一不親善友；二雖近不聽正法；三雖聽法，不思惟義；四雖思義，不如說行。

Sengliang comments: He explains the causes of regression. There are four causes of regression: first, not associating with good spiritual friends; second, although being close to them, not listening to the true Dharma; third, although listening to the Dharma, not reflecting on its meaning; fourth, although reflecting on the meaning, not practicing as taught.
