63.33

案僧亮曰：第三緣起也。雖復同列不信，而此一事偏論反舌罔沒尊聖，彌見其心矣。所以二問苦得者，欲知即事與佛語相應已不也。而苦得既已身驗，所以反根善星，因而誡之也。寶亮曰：聖化無方，應物非一。彼既心懷妬，云何可救也。

Sengliang comments: The third causal context. Although equally listed as disbelief, this single event especially discusses turning one's tongue against and eclipsing the Venerable and Holy One, revealing his mind even more. The reason for asking twice about Kora-khattiya was to know whether the actual matter corresponded to the Buddha's words or not. And once Kora-khattiya had personally verified it, [the Buddha] went back to the root with Sunakkhatta and consequently admonished him. Baoliang comments: The Holy One's transformation has no fixed mode; his response to beings is manifold. Since [Sunakkhatta's] mind harbored jealousy, how could he be saved?
