63.37

案僧亮曰：虛言無効，不如驗實也。陷地獄者，慈不積無以滅身，罪熟報至所以陷也。

Sengliang comments: Vain words have no effect; it is better to verify the reality. Sinking into hell: if compassion is not accumulated, there is nothing with which to extinguish [evil karmic] embodiment; when guilt ripens and retribution arrives, he therefore sinks.
