案僧亮曰：答第四難也。若內有微善，可方便外授者，斯人可度也。若內無微善，雖外方便，亦無如之何也。寶亮曰：答第一難也。善星若有微豪善者，豈容記其是地獄劫住不可治人耶？由其是一闡提故耳。

Sengliang comments: This answers the fourth objection. If there were slight good within that could be granted externally through upāya, this person could be delivered. If there is no slight good within, then despite external upāya, nothing can be done. Baoliang comments: This answers the first objection. If Sunakkhatta had even the slightest hair's breadth of good, how could it be permissible to prophesy that he is an incurable person dwelling in hell for an eon? It is because he is an icchantika.
