案僧亮曰：舉三世為義，取未來應生。即今未生，所以不可斷也。終竟之旨，未即可見。智秀曰：第三翻，責未來之法未起則不可斷，不應以斷善故成闡提。

Sengliang comments: Raising the three periods of time as the doctrine, he takes what should arise in the future. As it has not arisen in the present, it cannot be severed. The ultimate purport cannot be seen immediately. Zhixiu comments: The third round: challenging that dharmas of the future, not yet having arisen, cannot be severed, so one should not become an icchantika by severing good.
