64.68

案僧亮曰：已說我義是因緣所成，乃破定我。不離一果，上句破一，下句破異也。舉外道所見，重破一異之執。先釋不異，後釋不一也。

Sengliang comments: Having already stated that the meaning of the self is formed by conditions, he then refutes a fixed self. Not being separate from a single fruit, the preceding phrase refutes identity, and the following phrase refutes difference. Adducing what non-Buddhists see, he doubly refutes the attachments to identity and difference: first explaining non-difference, and later explaining non-identity.
