Sengliang comments: When views are abundant, grasping arises; where there is grasping, there is attachment. Baoliang comments: From here down is the fourth [section] within the major division, clarifying how邪 views arise because of attachment and the characteristics of severing the roots of goodness. The false reckonings of common worldlings are entirely ignorance; none accord with principle. Therefore, the sixty-two views are collectively termed "doubt." Yet at the time of wrongful grasping, they naturally possess both resolved and unresolved states of mind; nevertheless, in terms of the correct principle, they are entirely states of mind that lack comprehension. In the sentences below, the Buddha broadly explains the source of an icchantika giving rise to transgressions: relying on their own delusion, they deduce that there is no cause and effect, which is easy to see.
