67.32

案僧亮曰：四大力均，自有力生長，內不增外、外不增內也。僧宗曰：竝其義也。若言外法有內者，今不見內能增外也。智秀曰：第三復次，更舉尸利涉菓，以證因中先無果之旨。

Sengliang comments: The power of the four great elements is equal, naturally having the power to produce and grow; the internal does not augment the external, nor the external the internal. Sengzong says: He exposes the absurdity of their doctrine. If you say that external dharmas contain the internal, now we do not see that the internal can augment the external. Zhixiu says: The third subsequent argument further adduces the *śirīṣa* fruit to prove the principle that the effect does not previously exist within the cause.
